Allentown, PA – December 18, 2025–  At its December 18, 2025, Regular School Board of Directors Meeting, the Allentown School District School Board of Directors advanced several measures to improve capital projects across the District.

Bridgeview Academy Expansion
The District is advancing planning for additions and renovations at Bridgeview Academy to address building capacity, instructional needs, and long-term facility functionality. The proposed work focuses on improving learning spaces, supporting programmatic needs, and enhancing overall building efficiency while maintaining continuity for students and staff.

KCBA’s Architects’ proposed renovations transform the campus by expanding instructional capacity and revitalizing student services for both students and staff. The proposed additions prioritize high-impact learning environments, providing designated suites for student support services, Special Education classrooms, and flexible spaces for small-group instruction. To meet the demands of a curriculum, the design integrates modern technology-driven assessment labs and classrooms. Enhancing these additions, interior renovations will streamline the flow between academic and administrative wings, reducing congestion and optimizing daily operations for all students and staff.

Additionally, the presentation included updates on proposed athletic spaces, including a gymnasium and enhanced outdoor green areas. The overall exterior of the school will be enhanced to seamlessly blend the existing school façade, the Family & Community Engagement Center, which is scheduled for completion in December 2026, and the newest proposed phases of construction.

These design concepts are currently in the planning and review phase. The District will continue refining the scope as the project advances through design development and required approvals, with a focus on creating a facility uniquely equipped to serve Bridgeview Academy’s students now and into the future.

Sonia Sotomayor Dual Language Immersion Academy – Modular Classroom Project
To support growing enrollment and maintain high-quality learning environments at Sonia Sotomayor Dual Language Immersion Academy, the District is advancing plans to add modular classrooms on the school campus. The project is designed to provide additional instructional space while long-term facilities planning continues, ensuring students and staff have the space they need to learn and work effectively. Within the current school model, students in PreK-Grade 2 learn in every available classroom space. As the District moves forward with the plan to add grade levels each year to provide a full PreK-Grade 5 Dual Language Immersion Academy program, the need for additional space is a necessity.

The modular classrooms will be fully outfitted for instructional use and installed in alignment with district standards for safety, accessibility, and functionality. Pending necessary approvals, the District anticipates installation to occur on an expedited timeline to minimize disruption and support continuity of instruction.
